MS John Hurt Project

Description

For the past couple of years, MZMF has worked closely with Mary Frances Hurt and the Mississippi John Hurt Blues Foundation to help preserve and reclaim land that once belonged to the St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Teoc, Mississippi. In October 2023, we dedicated a historic marker at the entrance to the cemetery, and we have worked with the Mississippi Department of Archives & History to add the Mississippi John Hurt Historic House Museum to the list of Mississippi Landmarks.
